What is Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

WIOA or The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federal grant that covers training expenses for individuals who have been laid off or whose household income is at or below the federal poverty level.

Qualified and eligible students may receive up to 100% tuition assistance to pursue WIOA approved programs.

Cleveland State University is approved for WIOA funding for eligible Ohio residents.

Eligibility Checklist

✓ Dislocated Worker. Individuals who have lost their jobs due to circumstances beyond their control such as layoffs, company closure or military spouse relocation. Prior income does not affect eligibility in this category.

✓ Adult Income Eligible. Individuals with household incomes below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level may qualify.

✓ Authorization to Work. Individuals must be authorized to work in the US.

✓ Selective Service Registration. Males aged 18 and over are required to register for Selective Service to be eligible.

All our career training programs are online and self-paced. They are specifically designed to work with a military spouse's schedule and constant movement. These programs prepare spouses towards their long term career goals and fill in demand roles in Healthcare, IT, Business Management, and many more across the country.

Students have access to mentors that help guide them towards their career path. Hands on training through externships also come included with the program.
